I can give you my take on Alex Jones. You could allow him to tell us all about the dubious goings on behind the scenes so we think he is telling us the truth. We check Jones against stuff we find out elsewhere. Which means that he is not actually divulging any secrets.
Then, when a topic enters the news that needs to be suppressed they can set Jones up - or get him to cooperate. Either works. For instance, you could find him a super pizzagate witness who has all the correct facts and one wrong one. Jones broadcasts the news and is caught out by that one incorrect fact. That could go to court and Jones could be sued into oblivion but somehow he manages to bounce back.
Later, he might spill the beans on, say, a mass shooting. Again, they get him to say one thing that is incorrect and they go after him on that basis. It is what lawyers do in court. If they want to discredit someone they find a lie they once uttered and use that as proof that their entire testimony was a lie.
