The CDC recommendations are not mandatory, but a lot of school districts take these recommendations and make them mandatory to attend school. Parents can attempt to get exemptions, but some states do not allow exemptions. Parents will have to show up in force to protest if these measures are adopted by their schools.

It absolutely blows my mind. They want to recommend an experimental medical product to attend school. These products are still not FDA-Approved. There was a version of the Pfizer product which was approved by the FDA, but it was never actually released in the US. All the shots which have been administered in the US to this day have been emergency-use authorized (experimental) products. The reason this matters is because the EUA products have liability protection under the PREP act. The makers cannot be sued. If the makers were forced to produce an FDA approved version, they would potentially have liability if the products were proved to be dangerous.

They're plowing forward with zero regard for what the actual science says, which is that these products do not prevent infection or transmission. Children and young adults face almost no risk of severe outcomes from Covid, especially the currently circulating variants. There is literally no reason why public health would benefit from injecting these useless products into our children.
