Plumbers and auto mechanics working for themselves can charge as much as $100 per hour or more. When I was working at a law firm, the rates were from $100 to $200 or more, depending on the case. But that also included the salaries of the paralegals, word processors, and mailroom staff. A lawyer doesn't get to keep all of the money you pay him.
