I'm cautious about any sort of merger here. Twitter is already a powerful enough entity on its own. The amount of speech that runs through its platform makes it a key entity to corrupt. We've seen how that works. Hire on 90%+ workforce of purple-haired, pierced, tatted up, gender studies majors who had to learn to code (and their foreign replacements), and they go full-on totalitarian.
The point is that when we talk about power, our Founders were wise enough to recognize that any source of power needed to be checked. Executive power is checked by the Legislature and the Judiciary, etc. What they didn't necessarily foresee (and probably should have given contemporary examples of the Dutch and British East India Companies), was just how powerful a private enterprise could be, and the need to put checks on privately held power as well.
Ultimately, they left those checks up to We the People. The problem is that with services or products which are essential, you can't just take your business somewhere else. People need to communicate in order to have any say in their own governance. If you create a monopoly (which is what Twitter was in this space for forever), and it gets corrupted, well, we all know how that works out. They crush dissent.
The last thing we need is a merger here. We need more options not less. Don't concentrate too much power in any sector of society.
