HARD disagree. If you have to resort to censorship, you're the bad guy, plain and simple. With the exception of exploitation, bad ideas are simply defeated with better ideas. And also, this post is PAINFULLY misleading. You can't even say the "n-word" on this site let alone anywhere else. And most racial slurs are socially unacceptable. While I personally think no words should be socially unacceptable, I am also aware that having OPTONAL standards and adhering to specific community guidelines is necessary.
But this blatant, intellectually dishonest perspective is still wrong. Regulating ANY speech for any reason is dangerous. Labeling something "blasphemous" is no different than "hate speech". I am all for encouraging better, modest behavior, but it needs to come from a position of respect and accepting that not everyone is going to abide by YOUR standards or way of life.
The religious right had control of the culture and they abused that control. Things got out of hand because religious fundamentalists behaving no different than the Branch Covidians tried to use their power to control the masses and the masses resisted. Again... if you have to resort to censorship, it's cause your idea sucks.
Yes, we will disagree on this. Obscenity has always been against the law, for good reason.
