I'll add the caveat : legally

Canadians are an independent bunch - not all but then not everyone in the US is a Kali or NY liberal. IMO, this will not stop the gun trade. It will take it underground in much the same way that Prohibition in the US brought alcohol to black market/underground sales. Prohibition was also the cause for the rise of gangsters and the mob. They had existed but not as successfully.
