People really need to refresh their understanding of the timeline of the American Revolution.
Tensions began to heat up in the 1750s after the French and Indian War. They escalated in 1765 with the Stamp Act. They didnt boil over until 1775 at Lexington and Concord and Bunker Hill. The war wasnt over with the Declaration in 1776 but just beginning. The first battle wasnt won until Christmas 1776. The War didnt turn until the Winter of 1777 with the Battles of Saratoga and the winter camp at Valley Forge. Hostilities didnt end until after the Siege of Yorktown in 1781 and the Treaty of Paris wasnt signed until 1783.
By the most rudimentary reckoning, the events surrounding the War for Independence took place over nearly 40 years.
