OK. Here's the drill.

MAXIMUM temperature of 66/68. THEN, at 11pm, you have to shut off ALL heating. Unless your home is wrapped in a 3 foot thick layer of bubble wrap, the temperature will not be staying at 66 or 68. Particularly if its 45 or 37 degrees outside.

Average winter temperatures vary from 0 °C (32 °F) on the Alps to 12 °C (54 °F) in Sicily

The coldest month of the year in Rome is January, with an average low of 37°F and high of 54°F.
