I hear what you’re saying, and agree. But as someone who lives here, you have no idea how big of a deal this is.
The majority of people here still believe the covid narrative.
People still walk around with masks on.
There are PCR testing tents everywhere throughout the city — and people are still lining up for it (some are required to test by their employers, some are just addicted to covid fear).
A very large, influential, highly educated and wealthy population here are 100% in favor of mandates.
That same population still dutifully wait in line for their boosters — without being coerced to do so. In fact, they still brag that they got the latest booster.
This win may seem insignificant to you, and I don’t know where you live or what your experience has been since March 2020. But it’s actually massive for the few of us living as the filthy unwashed, and mostly incognito like fugitives.
Full justice may be slow to come, but this is a critical first step here.
I don’t live in NY, but have relatives in western NY. I’m not close with them, but I think some are based, and some aren’t. I have heard what you’ve stated- covid is still “around” and certain people/places still take in seriously (so sad ). So I am happy to hear this news. I hope it’s up and up from here

Now is when those who suffered need to seek damages.
