That hit me pretty hard too but I am seeing it as Christianity being a label for a religion. Religion cannot and will not save anyone. Religion after all, is what killed Jesus. The whole purpose of God’s word is to reveal Himself to us so that we may know Him so His love can transform us. He seeks a personal relationship with each of us. Jesus, God the Son, came to provide the path by overcoming death and ushering in God the Spirit. Only knowing Jesus and growing from belief to faith can anyone be saved. Religion always ends up being a man made perversion of that relationship.
