Luckily I'm old enough to know what life was like before these surveillance devices, and can do without. Not sure Gen Z can though.
When I'm out around town I watch them, completely oblivious to what's going on around them. And even when the sit down to eat they don't talk, simply on their cells. It is sad, not overly their fault as they were designed to be ultra addictive as are the apps.

I used to be the person you described, no more. I deleted all my social media apps. The only time I am on my phone is when I’m taking calls, checking/managing calendars, scrolling through who to learn about and listen to, people of philosophy, and of course, getting up-to-date on my .wins
