People can and should be told. Showing and telling are not mutually exclusive, as we all should have learned by now.
Q's aphorism "you can't tell people, you must show them" is wrong.
You must show them and also tell them the principles they need to follow in order to understand what they are seeing.
The brainwashed will never see enough to free themselves because they don't understand what they are seeing unless you tell them.

I went through a 1-step method to stop drinking.
My wife said "Stop drinking."
There wasn't a need for the other 11 steps.
Heh, I once heard in a meeting a fellow say he had gotten into the AA program on the "honor system"..... "Yes, your honor.... no your honor."
Casual Drinkers are great. Those are the people you hang out with when you are in sobriety.
