I promised I would send an update about my daughter. Last month I asked for prayers when my pregnant daughter was on her way to the ER because she didn't feel the baby move for almost a day. Then I updated later on that everything was ok - when she ate, the baby started moving again.
The rest of the pregnancy was more of the same - 5 or 6 trips to the ER, but everything continued to be ok.
Today she finally made it to the day her doctor scheduled her to have a c-section. She had a healthy baby girl, 6lbs 8oz and 20" tall (I hate when they say "long"). Everything went just fine and both are resting. Visitor rules only allow 2 visitors so I visited for a little while and left so my son-in-law and my wife can stay. I stayed long enough to hold my first granddaughter for a bit, and headed home to take care of the dogs. By the way - based Texas hospital - no masks required.
Thanks again for all the prayers. I truly believe that helped a lot.
I'm not too worried about it. She'll be out in a couple of days and will recuperate at our house while her husband goes back to work. He just got out of the (active) Army and his last official day is sometime this week. That's actually why the doctor recommended the c-section - so she would be certain to have the baby in time, and have time to recover in the hospital without worrying that her insurance would end. They will have new insurance as soon as he reports to his National Guard position and changes to their insurance, but the doctor thought it would be less stress if they didn't have to worry about that.
Her husband has a job a few hours away near his parents, so he will be working and looking for a house while she and the baby are here. They should be good to travel around Thanksgiving. My daughter has been staying with us since the Ukraine war started and her husband was deployed. She was newly pregnant and on her own, so this made sense - and ensured the baby would be born in Texas and not on the east coast. He has to go back to work as soon as she comes home from the hospital, so this time should be his.
