I think your right. A box with a button on it. Push the button you get 1 million dollars but someone random dies. Would you push the button? The covid vaxx is the same. Take the vaxx and you get a million social credits but someone random is disabled or killed. People were not ignorant about the side effects they just wanted their social credits and the damage would happen to someone else.
