3 possibilities as I see it:

This was him playing along wit the evil ones, to get the power he has now unimpeded, and be able to do what he did with twitter
He had a change of heart
He is indeed evil and part of the cabal, and the whole twitter thing is a smoke screen

Unfortunately it is impossible to conclusively point to any of these possibilities as the definitive answer.
