Were the elections for the four regions in Ukraine to rejoin Russia legit?

Got into a discussion with a buddy tonight and he says residents were forced at gunpoint to vote. I had seen video of people celebrating in line on voting day, which made me think the elections were at least somewhat free. Comments?
