Maybe I'm an idiot, but I never understood "pray without ceasing." Even if it is in the Bible.
How can anyone focus their brain long enough to pray to God 24 hours a day while doing other things that need your attention? Even Solomon admitted the mind needs rest too.
And doesn't "amen" mean you have ceased?
"It's a metaphor, dumbass." What part of "pray WITHOUT CEASING" did you not understand?
There are ten billion ways to take something figuratively and only one way to take it literally. K.I.S.S.
I don't know, maybe I'm just a rambling weirdo.
It's a good question, one I had about a year ago. It doesn't seem practical. But in the Greek the word for "pray" is in the Middle Voice, something English doesn't have, rather than the Active or Passive. Middle voice falls short of the active voice in terms of definite action. It's more like a reasonable 'be in a willing attitude of prayer appropriate to the circumstances of the moment.'
Thank you for the straight answer. I appreciate it.
