Idiot obviously doesn't have a clue about the late 70s and early 80s. We were all complaining about inflation. That was when the government started fudging the figures in an attempt to hide. I was working back then and saw candy bars go from 10 cents to 15, 20, and 25 cents. Coffee went up so fast that the retail price of coffee already on the store shelf wasn't enough to pay the wholesale price of replacement coffee, so the store started marking up what they already had.
