OK, I get it, but some things have to be taken in context. Though it wasn't pedantically explained, until now (sorry), it was to convey not in actual funny terms as a comedian, but rather more as a derisive manner. We've all done this at some time to one situation or another in response to how stupid someone can be in action or thought.
So, in this context, when I say laugh it isn't a joke, perse, but being flabbergasted at the village idiot: sometimes all you can do is shake your head and laugh. Certainly better than harboring anger, IMHO. 🤷
