Lazarus and the Rich Man Luke 16:19-31 which was Hades not Hell. Many Bibles mistranslate Hades for Hell the two are different look at the Greek in an Interlinea.
Hell today is empty and awaits the Two Beasts Revelation 19:19-20. Then in Revelation 20:11-15 where those of the 2nd Resurrection are judged at the Great White Throne with those not listed for eternity go to the Lake of Fire [Ghenna aka Hell] - second death, then Death and Hades to the Lake of Fire.
And who wrote that ? Do you know? Cos it doesn't sound sane does it? Look at it objectively! A spirit would not need a great throne of any colour....it would sink through a solid object ...if a solid object could be in a spiritual realm.....
And a spirit couldn't burn could it? And how could a lake of fire exist in a spiritual realm.?
Once the body is gone..along with hormones and glands producing emotions etc then there is nothing to burn or feel is there?
Ghenna was an actual place...jesus supposedly talked about it. It is in the Bible ..it was a place at the edge of the city where the rubbish and corpses were burnt when people were too poor for a decent burial etc ...it never went out.....this is th so called hell...an earthly place ...not in any spiritual realm
Wrote what? Lazarus and the Rich Man? I gave you all the Bible references just go and check them out. It is not like any parable as it mentions people by name.
Jesus also said Matthew 10:28 'And do not fear those who kill the body but cannot kill the soul. But rather fear Him who is able to destroy both soul and body in hell.' (Gehenna)
Gehenna the physical place outside the walls of Jerusalem was a type of Hell - a type of the Lake of Fire. I assume you are familiar with types in the Bible.
At resurrection a new body is provided, to the true believer an immortal body for eternity, one which will have tears Revelation 21:4
You appear to have an issue with the plain words of the Bible Why? We have no idea what a spirit is, or what it can feel. How do you know?
'doesn't sound sane to me' well it does to me, and you do appear to have a lack of understanding of scripture, and are assuming things for which you have no evidence!
Anyway you will find out, perhaps its time for you to start trusting God's word, and not lean on your own understanding Proverbs 3:5-6
Projection!! You have no evidence except words in a book. You have no idea who wrote them or when...
The pope put hell in the Bible ..it didn't exist before 1600.....the Jews who wrote the history of what happened to them did not believe in hell and there was no meNtion of eternity or even a word for it.
This book you know so little about is a copy of older books the Jewish Torah Torah ..the Vedas..the Upanishads..the Egyptian book of the dead...the epic of Gilgamesh...etc etc..
And I don't give trust blindly ....I have my own conscience and pineal gland. The temple is within each one of us..not a book of dubious provenance ...
Try listening to it sometime or have you no critical thinking at all to help you distinguish truth from agendas
You claim that hell wasn't in the Bible before 1600. I beg to differ. It actually appears in the Geneva Bible of the mid-1500s and the Tyndale translation of the New Testament in the early 1500s.
The pope couldn't possibly have changed thousands of original manuscripts undetectably and then replaced them in intact sites for archaeologists to discover later. You don't understand how all this works.
BTW, the actual word "hell" wouldn't be in any earlier versions of the Bible as it's an English word with Germanic origins.
Apart from the Torah the first five books of the Bible, your other documents what do you know of the provenance of them? - no other manuscript apart from the Bible says that the Creator God came in flesh to pay for the sins of the created in order that the created may live for eternity with the Creator. Not one!
The Bible states that the Torah - which means Teaching - was dictated to Moses by God Himself.
The Bible shows the details of creation 'In the beginning God created ...' , we then see how man cannot even obey one commandment. We then see in Chapter 4 the full effect of sin entering into mankind. Cain murdered Abel because Abel is following God's way but Cain wants to follow his own way - following his conscience and pineal gland. It ends with extreme violence towards other men for little of no reason Genesis 4:23-24 check it out!
Chapter 5 we see the line of Adam through Noah - the original account of the Gilgamesh epic. In Chapter 5 God sets out how He will save mankind from himself, it's in the meanings of the name - all names have a meaning.
“*Man *[Adam] is *appointed * [Seth] *mortal * [Enosh] to *sorrow * [Kenan]; but *the Blessed God * [Mahalalel] shall come down [Jered] *teaching * [Enoch] that His death shall bring [Methuselah] the despairing [Lamech] rest or comfort. [Noah]”
The Bible of 66 books by 40 authors written over a period of some 2,500 years carries a clear and consistent message from Genesis to Revelation. Telling of the Creator God who desires a personal relationship with each of His creation, so much so that He came to pay the price 'wages of sin is death' we could not.
So first I have a personal relationship with God, next I have the Bible which provides the consistent message from cover to cover which affirms all I have in the personal relationship.
The good news for you uk9994 is that God desires a personal relationship with you as well, Jesus died to pay the price for your sins 1 John 2:2 so that you do not need to end up in Hell/the Lake of Fire if you will just receive Him John 3:16. He marks it this date in the book of Your Life that you have been told this - the choice for you now, is will you stop looking for Him in all the wrong places, stop trusting in your self.
Proverbs 3:5-6 Trust in the LORD with all your heart, and lean not on your own understanding; In all your ways acknowledge Him, and He shall direct your paths.

"Words in a book," like everything else you know?
