In my area, they scan your ID and check against the voter registration. You have to tell them your address. They print out a blank ballot with a header on it. This is what you take to the voting machine. The verification process seems legit, as long as the machines are legit, it should be a full proof verification system. I am fairly certain that if I went back and tried to vote again, the scanned id would get flagged.
