It’s pouring pretty bad in Southern CA. They are urging people to stay home. I wonder why???

People in socal have a difficult time driving in the rain. It’s like they’ve never seen it before.
Well, actually it is very dangerous because there is dried oil on the road and the rain makes it slick. I lost a car to that some years ago.
Dried oil on the road?
Yes
I was driving to work for my job in the airlines back in the day and was rounding a curving road around the airport terminal, which I drove every day. We hadn't had rain for months. I had a new Camaro Berlinetta and was listening to Prince's 'Let's Go Crazy' on the radio (so was likely speeding a bit) and it started to sprinkle.
As the road curved around the airport grounds, the light rain on the hot, oily asphalt caused my tires to hydroplane, causing my car to go into a fast spin, sending the car up an embankment of an elevated landscaped berm. I mowed over a newly planted skinny sapling and spun around coming to rest back on the road, facing the correct direction. I continued to drive and when I got to the employee parking lot, I had to just sit still for a few minutes due to the shock of it all.
Luckily the car and I were OK.
