He's a religious man and a moralist. He holds moral integrity as one of his highest values and he wants politicians who talk like educated elite, that is, like himself. He wants people like him to hold power. That's reasonable. Most of us want people like us to hold power too. The blue collars among us like Donald Trump's street brawler style. We forgive the other things because like us, we recognize he is not perfect, but he fights. Even the Leftists will surround themselves with others who think like them. If you've ever sat among a pack of liberal suburban white women, it sounds like an echo chamber of virtue signaling, pretense, and racial self-loathing combined with a mothering instinct to protect the underserved/disadvantaged, etc. They also, vote for people like themselves.

Shapiro's never going to give up his core identity as a Jewish man first anymore than an evangelical would give up his identity, or an immigrant, his. We have to understand that. He's not a cuck. He simply can't accommodate Trump because Trump is too immoral, too brazen, too poorly spoken for a man like Shapiro who'd honestly be most happy with a rabbi as President.
