Trump shouldn't have Desantis as VP for this exact reason. We need someone coming up to take his spot before leaving for higher office. Florida is huge for the cabal.

I just believe desantis will be one another pence. Trump is older and has nothing to lose. Desantis is much younger with aspirations of being bigger than what he is. If anything stops him in his way of doing that his pol career is over. So I think he will do as he needs from the ppl behind him if it came down to it.
