This, sadly, is nothing new. Too many Republicans think they're being "independent thinkers" and "mavericks" by claiming that DeSantis should replace Trump.

They also love to pull the "don't worship/idolize Trump" card.

Sometimes what you have is just the best available and the new thing/option is worse (liberals hate this idea). Recognizing this isn't worship and is an extremely important part of conservatism.
