20 odd years ago dad ran into a state rep he was friends with and got to talking politics.

The GOP guy ADMITTED they ran the particular GOP candidate that year (iirc a former football player who was kinda dumb) just because "we don't have anybody that can beat Rendell" so essentially they just tossed the guy to the wolves knowing he'd lose.

OK so just looked. It was Lynn Swann against Randell in 2006. Basically a repeat of Walker vs Warnock

Interestingly enough Rendell was born to Jewish parents from Russia in NYC before being PA gov
