completely transparent with their finances and taxes, along with their immediate family.

This. Not only because we need to see if they're doing any grifting but to see if they can actually handle money. Outside of things like having a mortgage/the usual bills, if they can't keep their heads above water in their own lives, why should they be allowed to have anything to do with the Public's finances?
