Cracking the riddle of Elon Musk was very difficult for me but, now that I have additional information about the man, I can put together a hypothesis. He does not strike me as a crusader or a man driven by righteousness (this was my major stumbling block). What I think, is the passing of his baby had lot's to do with what he's doing. He knows who is responsible for the death of his child and he wants payback. He wants to crush all of those vermin. It's personal with him. In other words, a cold vengeance is the force driving him.

Vengeance is a very human trait.

I'm batman!
I don't agree with all your points, but I do agree, Elon wears no hat. He's not fighting for a side, just for the things he aligns with.
He's chaotic neutral.
I think Elon wants to have dominance over a Civilized World. Not a decaying and crumbling society. Currently we are on the same road to salvation.
I don't think so. When he tweeted about his new born dying in his arms from sids, gave me all I needed to know about his motivations.
It a curiosity, as soon as the ADL thugs are pushed out. The well being of Children becomes front and center.
He looks at the ADL as a gang of thugs hell bent on murder.
Libtards destroy everything they touch. Therefore, libtards don't go to Mars. Twitter's entire purpose is to create and enforce the libtard paradigm. Therefore, Musk must acquire Twitter and dismantle that paradigm before ever getting to Mars. Twitter must succeed—and crush woke competitors—if Musk will realize his dream.
Trump is a real estate magnate—hotels, golf courses, resorts, casinos. Trump's primary customers are a middle class with money to spend. Customers must have money in their pockets from tax breaks and successful small/medium business environments if Trump and his family name are to succeed.
Both are making moves and operating in their own special interests. The American people were just smart enough to elect representatives/executives with special interests aligned with theirs.
Brings a new angle to that "devil's champion" Halloween costume Elon wore from the Kung-Fu TV show. In some eastern cultures, executing divine punishment on the wicked is traditionally done not by angels but by demons, and to personally seek vegeance is described as becoming an "emissary of hell".
I think the guy is simply sick and tired of clown world and wants to end it ... Pretty much like the rest of us only he has the means to do something about it.
That being said, blowing $44B on a company to do just that indicates there is something more to this ... he's a showman like Trump ... He loves the spotlight ... but that's still an awful lot of money to risk.
