Ever since WW2, the UK has been America's puppet. It provides the US with all kinds of useful things. For instance:
Largest aircraft carrier in European waters.
An "independent" partner to back up any international action taken by the US.
UK intel can pass to US intel information that US intel is prohibited from seeing and vice versa.
Plausible deniability as in: "We didn't do it, they did!"
Item 2 was typified by Tony Blair standing "shoulder to shoulder" with GHWB over the Iraq War. Note similarities to Ukraine.
Item 3 is used to allow the US intel agencies to, effectively, spy on Americans.
An Item 4 example is the Steele Dossier. There was also a UK/Iraq Dodgy Dossier.
