Curious. Is the lithium actually consumed by batteries or can it be recovered and reused? I thought used cell phone batteries can be used to recover /recycle some materials.
You can recycle the battery. Just like our regular lead acid battery. It just has way more cells and chemicals. My question is, why don’t we have like 6 removable battery packs we can switch out at “gas” stations and then keep on moving.
Why does the battery HAVE to be permanently stuck to the bottom of the car?
Weight distribution and available space, mostly. Given we build EVs with the expectation that the battery rarely needs replaced or serviced, the battery is usually overbuilt to provide longer life and drive distance, which can cause flipping issues if it was built higher up.
