It could be that some souls are new..and do not use the right side of the brain where intuition ethical behaviour etc is..and are left brain only. You can talk to them forever..as someone else said ...only for those with ears to hear....

We have to reach a stage of depression I think..a rejection of the world and all it offers while the seed germinates in the dark and we burst into light.
