Sports are fine, but the level of importance in many people's lives has become pretty ridiculous.

I still remember in high school they had an announcement that A: The football team is getting new uniforms, and B: Teachers are now only allowed to make (some small number of) copies of classroom material per day, down from (reasonable number).

Yay, my teacher's ability to educate me has been traded for fartball uniforms... cool... nice priorities.
