It's so fitting as well. The Opera it was made for, Peer Gynt, the scene it plays in is about Peer Gynt trying to escape a group of trolls, and then they finally catch up to him, and beat him half to death for cutting off the engagement to the daughter of Dovregubben (the Mountain King).
