Why is Elon releasing this extremely crucially important information at the worst possible time, so that it will hinder the news exposure?

That is true, but even normies are getting excited over shit. When government or corporations do it, they never announce, they just quietly release the info and it gets a token mention on the Friday evening news and may make a 30 sec clip on Saturday.
