Very interesting, thank you for sharing. Do you relate this ghostly figure to demonic or something of Satan? You mentioned earlier that you have never entertained the thought of Satan until that moment. Did you feel attacked in a way? Like you were being singled out?
I myself have had some very real encounters. Most before I found salvation with Jesus Christ. And one after. Which wasn’t to long ago actually. It was the most brutal. Also curious if you are a Christian? Would you say you are in love with Jesus, follow Christ?
It was an apparition, a phantasm of sorts. Demonic? I don't know. Van der Decken was condemned to sail the seas until the Day of Judgment, so he must answer to God. As far as Jesus, no, I am not a follower. My relationship, if one were to call it that, is with a superior spiritual universal force. If that were to manifest itself in the form of a being we as humans can understand, then we could move closer to a higher level of being ourselves. Likely in the minority here, but I believe that when man truly learns to accept responsibility for his actions, he will achieve more than he is presently capable of comprehending. This requires that he admits to his wrongdoing, owns up to it, and works to repair the damage he has caused. The Catholic Church, supposedly the church of Jesus Christ, did more to instill guilt in me than any other institution, and I have since dealt with what I have done and have not turned any of it over to someone who died for man's sins. I have accepted who I am and will deal with that when the times comes and I am no longer here, but I do not know when and if that will ever happen at all. Lastly, I appreciate the intent put forth by those who claimed to have found Jesus, but I choose not to travel that road myself.
Just understand, when we all stand before the Father one day, only those who know and have accepted Jesus will live forever. If you don’t know Jesus, then when the time comes, He won’t know you. You will have no advocate before the Father.
And as far as the Catholic Church being Jesus’s church. That’s false. Jesus “is”. We are the church, the people. Denominations, imo, are just Satans way of dividing the church. There are no denominations. There are those who follow and worship Him, and those that don’t. Once a person accepts Jesus Christ as their savior, that’s it. I wish you could join me, with church. I go to a Baptist church currently. And even though they would love for me to “join”. I remind them I’m already a member of every church that worships Jesus Christ. Man had a way of inserting “man’s laws” into God’s laws. I’m sorry you had a bad experience. But trust me, keep trying. Build a relationship with Jesus, leave man out of it for a bit. But fellowship is huge. And amazing when you find real Christian fellow worshippers.
This is exactly the reason why I hesitate, if not downright avoid, engaging in conversations about Jesus Christ. I feel I have to defend myself for my beliefs. I am just fine with accepting that people are going to believe what they want to believe regardless of what other people think they should believe. You're not the first person to tell me these things and you won't be the last. It would be best to leave it at that.
Naw I get it. I get onto people (Christians) all the time. They will sit and argue whose right, which church is the true one, Peter this, the rock that…constant fussing, all the while those we need to be helping are looking on in disgust. It’s no wonder some people look at Christians as crazies. I know from my own experience. After 40 yrs, and I’ve only recently accepted Jesus, and went all in. I see man’s flaws now. Why I felt a certain way about “holy rollers”. But I was shown something different. Amazing. And I’m so thankful now. I no longer carry the weight of this world. I am the happiest I’ve been these past 1.5 yrs, than my entire life. It’s unreal. I just want others to have what I have now. That’s all. I’ll leave ya alone friend, just know, that your loved and cared for.

Once again thank you for sharing.
