BRAWLEY — In an effort to prepare for real-life offensives, the 13th Marine Expeditionary Unit operated a limited-scale raid in an abandoned housing project here late Monday evening.
It was the unit’s first time operating a raid in the area, which Capt. Ted Vickers said was a unique change of pace.
“This kind of gets us out of our comfort zone,” Vickers said. “This gives us the perfect opportunity to come to a place that the Marines have never seen before and the ability to go into houses like this and have an area where we can actually land helicopters is great. It was the perfect little spot to do it.”
