Trump is defeating the deep state and is making all the right moves. How does he think so logically and strategically? I know he's smart but is there a framework that allows him to become a masterful tactician?
What are some resources or books I can read that will make me smarter so I can become a master thinker? I need to be smarter so I can change my life and change the world.
It's not always something that you can read from a book. Experience, especially dealing with and leading people directly, accounts for much of his competence. Things like remembering everyone's name whom he ever meets is not something a book can help you with.
More than that, in order to understand your enemy, and subvert their plans against you, you must think like your enemy.
That's the dangerous bit. In order to beat a demon, historically, you must learn its name. That also means knowing how a demon thinks.
In order to stop evil plans, you must understand evil plans. Understanding the motivations of your enemies is best acquired by plotting just as your enemy plots. Acts of depravity which are so unthinkable, are not thought of by an honest mind. And so, when you refuse to think like a schemer, you end up being gullible and fall for the schemes.
Suspicion and paranoia isn't just enough to prepare for scams, tricks, and lies; you have to take the time to come up with your own, like coming up with chess plays. Once you see patterns in composition, you can more easily spot them when others use them against you.
If you really want to understand tactics, learning chess, poker, and music are important skills to study.
Why music? Because being able to calm yourself, focus on the notes being played individually. Separate them with your ear, listen to each "voice" from different instruments working to form a cohesive whole, and determine what chord progression they are playing. What other popular songs use that chord progression? Why?
Pause a song before the last measure, and hum to yourself how you might resolve the motif. The more you do this, the more you understand how to predict the next move. You begin to notice habits of individual artists, and how they will often fall into a comfortable and personalized pattern. Once you "download" the composter, like people do in fighting game competitions, you OWN your opponent. You know what they'll do next, and are therefore one step ahead. That's what tactics is all about.
