FWIW, apparently the cartel leaders were killed by " This is a 'soldier' (police officer) from the Bope Special Forces from the Rio de Janeiro Military State Police.

These are the guys who stormed the Red Commando stronghold in the favela in Rio.

These guys see way more combat than the actual military forces. But their work does not necessarily mean anything in the larger geopolitical sense."
