FACT: George Washington he lost more battles than he won. Although he lost the Battle of Germantown (400 dead, including the entire 9th Virginia Regiment) he won at the Battles of Trenton in 1776 and Yorktown in 1781. That's FIVE YEARS between victories. WE ARE HERE FOR THE LONG HAUL, CUPCAKES! #LFG

Not to take away from Washington's success at holding out against the British in the North, but the war was more accurately won in the South, in particular at King's Mountain and Cowpens. Without these Patriot victories which forced Cornwallis to flee the Carolinas (where he massively overestimated the level of Tory sentiment) for the "safety" of Virginia, Yorktown never happens... the Patriots also won the intelligence war, in part due to Washington's leadership, but moreso the Culper Ring and Benjamin Tallmadge.
