Brooklyn City Councilman Ari Kagan has officially announced he will be switching from the Democratic Party to the GOP, citing the most important factor in his decision as the party’s handling of public safety.
“Over the last several years in my personal humble opinion, [the] Democratic Party in New York was moving to the left at such a speed that they could not even keep up,” said Kagan during a Monday news conference. “And on issue after issue every year, every month, I started to feel that it’s not me leaving the Democratic Party, but [the] Democratic Party very quickly started to leave me. Especially on [the] most important issue of the day, public safety.”
“Every month I found myself like ‘what am I doing in the Democratic Party?’ In my own district, in southern Brooklyn, everywhere I knocked [on] doors people saying ‘when are you switching to the Republican Party?'” he said. “I believe right now, the Democratic Party is doing everything possible in New York City to make everybody less safe.”
On Wednesday, Kagan resigned as the chairman of the Council’s resiliency committee. He spoke to the New York Daily News about stepping down from his position, saying, “I resigned rather than wait until being expelled by the Council leadership. Now I can be more open about how I feel about the Council’s misguided priorities. It is liberating to not be a Democrat who is always expected to stay in line.”

Kagan announced his political party switch just days after West Virginia State Senator Glenn Jeffries announced his own move to the GOP from the Democratic Party.
Back in October, former Hawaii Congresswoman Tulsi Gabbard also announced her departure from the Democratic Party, which she said “is now under the complete control of an elitist cabal of warmongers driven by cowardly wokeness, who divide us by racializing every issue and stoke anti-white racism.”
Gabbard said that she could no longer be a part of a party that is “hostile” toward people of faith and that is “actively working to undermine our God-given freedoms” that are “enshrined in our Constitution.
Gabbard also said her former party has weaponized the “national security state to go after political opponents” and warns, “above all, are dragging us ever closer to nuclear war.”
Yup. Same shit, different pile.
