Technology can be used for both good and evil.
This is the crux of the gun debate. Just because a gun in the wrong hands can do bad, doesn't mean that a guns are inherently bad tools that should be outlawed.
Electric vehicles, brain implants, and social media can all be forces of tremendous good if they are used for the right reasons.
Electric Vehicles can make a lot of sense in a suburban setting if the infrastructure can catch up, and the vehicles remain a consumer choice on the free market.
Brain implants can help treat diseases like Parkinson's that have been untreatable until now. People like Michael J. Fox might be able to have control over their bodies again with the proper implementation of these technologies.
Just because something can be used for bad, doesn't make it inherently bad. Evil people will forever seek to use whatever means they can to subjugate and control the masses.
As for Elon Musk, I see a concerted effort both on GAW, and on social media at large to distract from the very real disclosures he is making that are contributing a massive net positive in the number of people joining The Great Awakening movement. Elon is waking more people up today that at any point during this movement.
I would drive an electric vehicle if the technology improved to the point where I could get a full charge in around the time it takes me to fill my empty gas tank. Until then, I am not interested. Likewise I am uninterested in buying $20,000 in batteries every 3-4 years.
But if people are dumb enough to buy, and you can make them with a margin, more power to you for manufacturing them.
The greatest innovation would be to electrify the roads themselves in such a way that e-vehicles could constantly recharge on the go and never require a lengthy stop at a charge station. I'm sure we have the technology today to make this happen.
I am sure anything is possible. But would require the construction of thousands of new power plants. Not sure there is any will for nuclear power anywhere in the west. Maybe France. But imagine what the sierra club will do when coal plants are proposed…
