It seems concierge medicine outside the insurance system is the best bet (aside from emergency coverage). Too bad most can't afford it.
Health and blessings to you
I know of some physicians and other clinicians that are attempting concierge because they don't want to play ball under the rules of the ACA system. But as you stated, many people just cannot afford it. However, Covid has made some realize that they have to figure something out that people can work with. But, providers still need to make a living and cannot give their services away for free. There has to be a balance somewhere that works for the majority of people.
I think if we had a system where patients have to actually consider the costs, then they would be better consumers of their health care and there would be some competition that should drive costs down. Insurance has done a huge disservice in this area because most patients could care less about the cost as long as it is being paid by someone. The majority of people have no idea what are the actual costs of their care.
Blessings and health to you as well.
