My wife had her 6th surgery on her ear yesterday. None happened after covid hit until now. She has to be put under each time, about 2 hrs of surgery. The first round of questions were normal pre-op. Then started the clot questions. Then any cancer issues. “Have you had any blood clots recently. Had any cancer recently”. Etc etc.. Then first time ever put the leg compressions on pre-op. She had NEVER had this before. Tell me.. what are they hiding. Hmmm. 🤔🤫. The answers are all around us.

She and i are NOT vaxxed. Period. I heard sooo many people discussing it in the waiting room. One guy even said this.. “ i got sicker than hell for 3 days after my booster but other than that ive had zero issues”. As he kinda laughed like it was nothing. Wtf is wrong with these sheep. Her aunt last week got the booster and was so sick she thought she was going to die. Had to close her business for 3 days. She has no kids so my wife is her child in her eyes. Told her she loved her and didnt think she was going to make it. 🤬🤬. Were having people around here dropping like flies yet nobody is saying anything. Wth is wrong with people.
maybe she got vaxxinated behind your back and didn't tell you. I'm sorry but it is a possibility.
If I am in a position where I have to answer that question: "Have you had any clots recently?"
My response will be, "No, I haven't had the Covid vaccines."
I am a retired health care worker Typically the leg massagers are to be put on and working before the anesthesia starts to prevent clots Where I worked the nurse would put them on IN operating room usually. Now this is either a change in workflow locally like the nurses were too busy and they would forget so administrators moved the process up the chain.
I think your intuition is probably correct and baffled at the rise in clots they are focusing on leg squeezing to be at 💯. This happens because they are baffled of course
Baffled is one way to put it. When they finally admit it, it will be waaay to late. Im a construction worker and knew better, shes in health care and it took some heavy persuasion. Thank the Lord i got through to her.
Well, I haven't had surgery for about 12 years but I remember at that time I was asked several times about clots, blood pressure, recent illnesses, and not only had compression stocking but a massaging machine for hours. I was not surprised as this happened during long surgeries. It's the lying around with decreased HR and BP for hours that predisposes for clots, even if it seems like there wouldn't be much blood involved.
Same for me. I had a 5 hour surgery about 20 years ago and had the massagers on my legs. I believe they put them on in the OR. I noticed them in recovery in my groggy, morphined state and told the nurse I loved the leg massage lol. She told me the put them on for long surgeries to keep the blood flowing because of being on the table for so long.
A few years ago I had to have back surgery, well before covid, for the first time I had to wear the compression socks to prevent blood clots. My mom had knee surgery when I was a teen and she got a blood clot after surgery. Compression socks during surgery is not new, I think it depends on age or type of surgery. In my early 20’s had mouth surgery in the army…no compression socks. Had to have a broken piece of bone removed from wrist mid 20’s no compression socks. No doubts though they will move the compression socks to younger and younger patients as blood clots become “normal” for them. They aren’t normal for young people….middle age yes. So compression socks aren’t new, I used them in 2016 for back surgery.
I totally get that. Ive had them too but way more invasive surgery on lungs. This was.. Same doctor. Same clinic. Same nurses. Exact same surgery. Last surgery was late 2019. Basically cut into ear to remove crud. No questions like this. These were very direct. Very serious acting. Not just a questionnaire.
Wow! Yup definitely changing. Crazy about her ears, that must be miserable! Prayers she doesn’t have any other problems from here out.
interesting it was done pre - op But im in oz - here they did it after surgery (2 -3 years ago). Mind you I actually had blot clots - on the lungs - because you know "people your age worry for nothing" when I complained a month prior about leg clotting concerns.
It is not uncommon to put pressure on the lower legs during surgery. I have had a couple where they did this. It is intended to keep from developing clots.
I had a tumor the size of a cantaloupe removed (well gutted) they couldn’t remove it all, last year. Leading up to that surgery I had to have a bunch of test and other stuff done and they had to put me under. So in 1 year I was under about 7x I’m only 46yrs old and I’m having problems remembering things which I’ve always had a sharp memory. But I think it was because I was under so much. I’m not vaxxed. The leg compression are normal and the questions are to. Matter of fact the whole year going to doctors office and hospital visits only 1x did a nurse ask if I was vaxxed for the cooff. Hope your wife’s ear gets better. My husband had his whole eardrum redone and he is still like 95% deaf in that ear!
Vax symptoms must really be getting in the doctors' way these days. But six surgeries? Yikes, I hope they get it right this time.
