As if they couldn’t otherwise.
True but they reported the major announcement was coming. If there were only one that day, it’s be a little harder to discredit.
Good point. But they could have downplayed it. They could still say “nothingburger”. They could still say, “Trump, without evidence, demands control of Internet. Is he delusional?” They certainly wouldn’t be required to list any of the announcement in detail. “Trump goes full fascist, says he wants total control of Internet speech. This is a danger to our democracy. He must be investigated for these statements!” Then the talking heads would come on. “This announcement was a flop. Who is his audience with this? He’s lost the Trump touch. This is an insurrection. Everyone is abandoning him. Ron DeSantis would have never done this!” And blah blah blah they would go.
Also, the shills and bots would have continued to push their “disappointment” narrative, they simply would have swapped out the keywords. “An Internet Bill of Rights?! So disappointing! This is old news. He already floated this years ago and it went nowhere. We wanted DECLAS! We wanted a run for Speaker of the House! I’m the biggest Trump supporter around fellow centipedes but this was an unforced error. Has Trump lost it? Is Ron DeSantis our man?”
