I remember as a kid all this talk about how we'd have flying cars by the early 2000s and all the amazing tech we'd have...
...and what did we get? (At least for cars)
sensors to give notifications to "check your rear seat" when turning off and exiting the car.
my car has A 2ND BATTERY ENTIRETELY DEDICATED TO RUN ONLY THE AUTO START/STOP FEATURE. THE WORST ADDITION TO CARS..POSSIBLY EVER. (I found a way to disconnect it)
imagine being told that distracted driving is bad... Only for car companies to put 42" interactive touch screen TVs in your center dash
EXTERNAL speakers that beep when reversing
getting hit with a disclaimer about road safety and distracted driving every time you turn your car on
lane assist
social media integrations
8bit reverse camera quality
electric vehicles and their 20,000 minimum battery replacement costs and their poor range
automatic high beams
Fords notifications that tells you to take a brake from driving because it senses road lanes wrong
All to name a few.
Imagine if we actually invested all this time into making driving better rather than sensors that detect another sensors sensor so it can tell another sensor what other sensors said.
Omg right?! 100% on all fronts.
