An acquaintance of mine back in the early 90s predicted this stuff. At that point, it was still kind of socially weird for men to have ear piercings and the great tattoo/body piercing craze hadn't started yet. He told me that, in the future, men would be paying thousands of dollars to have their genitals cut off. It was a weird comment for the time. I asked him why he thought this would happen and he said "Because it'll be the thing to do."

I mean, I thought it was possible but not likely. Who'd do such a thing? Then I saw the whole body-mod thing take off and people trying to out-do each other and realized that it was only a matter of time before it became trendy to take it that far in body mutilation.
