Since you brought it up - is this different from the US whitetail deer illness going through the midwest the past 5 years or so where some deer had developed large cysts/pustules on their necks and bodies? Game warden around my area said that if you shoot a deer then walk up on it and notice these areas, do not touch the deer and call game warden and identify location for a team to come in to dispose of the carcass .
I couldn't ever find out any more about that. Several deer were discovered with this by hunters in my area and hunting dwindled significantly around here. But with this hunting season (recently closed), I have not heard of any incidents or observations of this nature.
