Wow. Thanks for the research. I had no idea about the games. I never played computer games or paid attention to them. Pretty sick stuff no wonder these games are constantly releasing new versions. Players Get so desensitized. Need more to get the thrill. Just like addictions. Always chasing that first feeling.
Long time gamer here. Lots of us maintain our sensitivity, especially when the portrayals are done right. Something like Doom isn't bad because they're demons, easy to de-humanize because they're not human.
The Last of Us 2 has you killing folks that are just trying to survive, but they wronged you. Feels a lot crappier to kill people in that game. Same with Spec Ops: The Line where you inadvertently use White Phosphorus on civilians and it's portrayed as utterly horrific (and I felt that way too).
