St. Boniface is considered the founder of the Christian Christmas tree. He chopped down a large coniferous tree that was supposedly protected by Norse gods when he was catechizing in Germany. The people their were amazed he wasn't struck down and they all converted and decorated their own trees in celebration and to mock the false gods. Christmas trees rock.
