When did 1-3 “ of snow constitute a winter storm warning. Not that I wish death and destruction on my fellow pedes, but when I was young, we walked to school in several inches of snow. My mother’s retirement community in my hometown just rushed them through Christmas dinner saying they have to get home. Finished by 6pm, Merry Christmas.

Not sure why the fuel would Jell up. drove for over 20 years in extreme cold winters.. Most all diesel trucks that I drove had fuel tank heaters and you could also get #1 diesel. Not sure about #1 anymore. They were also equipped with air dryers that would eliminate moisture that could freeze up the air for the brakes. The only time we would shut the trucks off was to check the oil. He might work for someone who doesn't have cold weather equipment.. Hope he didn't get frost bite. I do know about cold weather. North Slope AK,. Not fun if you are not prepared.
Don't know the name but whatever product they put in the truck to prevent it from jelling up they must not have put enough for how cold it got. He said he was driving it down the interstate and it just locked up.
He works for UPS, and the center here is cheap with everything so could be that as well. Luckily no frost bite. Don't envy you guys at all, but thanks for all you do fren. Trucks drivers don't get enough credit.
The issue is that they’ve reduced the sulfur content in the diesel over the last 30 years. In the event water has found its way into your diesel the sulfur isn’t there to disolve into it which would prevent it from freezing, thus you get ice crystals in your fuel.
The higher biodiesel contains paraffin which gels at higher Temps. The fuel filters normally plug up much faster than running traditional diesel.
